It's all in the questions...

It’s the Easter holidays and this morning I went outside to hang the freshly washed laundry on the line and thought how lovely it’ll be for my kids to be able to put on clean clothes that have that freshly aired smell to them.

I then considered the fact that we’d just eaten our breakfast and was awaiting the usual questions of “What are we doing today? Where are we going?” because in their world that’s all that they have to worry about.

They are fed and watered 3 times a day with occasional snacks, they are safe and always have clean clothes to put on and above all they are loved.

I then considered those children that don’t have clean comfortable clothes or their food that turns up regularly on the table, they may even not have someone who loves them and looks out for them and I wondered….what’s their question for their day?

Would it be more like “How am I going to survive this day?” or “When am I going to be able to find food?”

Which comes first? Does our environment dictate our daily question that we ask ourselves or do our questions dictate which environment we find ourselves in?

If your main question was about your survival then you would look for the answers in order to survive, ironically even in the Western world I hear people ask the question what do I have to do to survive……? Whether it be the current economic financial situation, a relationship, time spent at a hated job. Your answer will always arrive…. How to stretch your finances so that they cover the basics, how to lie, or cheat yourself and your partner out of a truly supportive and loving relationship just so you can scrape through with the least amount of hassle and how many hours/days/years until the weekend or retirement and so the cycle continues.

Imagine the difference if you asked a question that had a future

Most of you reading this blog, by the very nature of the fact that you have access to a computer and the time to sit and read this, you are in a privileged position of being able to choose a better question, so don’t waste it, think of a question that you could ask yourself everyday that will move you closer to a dream, to enhance your relationships with those around you, or do work that you enjoy.

The answers are all in the questions…..
