Your Material Illusion

When we look at the Earth objectively, as an entity separate to us, it has been here doing it’s thing for billions of years.  Life forms have come and gone yet it remains constantly evolving despite life's comings and goings. 

 

We are here as a species for a fraction of the time the Earth has existed and we have no idea how long our species has on this planet.  What is guaranteed is that all of our puffed up ideas about our intelligence and greatness count for nothing during the blink of an eye that we’ve been here both individually and even as a species.  

 

Generations come and go and this ridiculous obsession with who and what we are, what we possess and leave when we die counts for nothing.  These are merely thoughts and perceptions rooted in how we would like to be seen as significant by others.  The only hope you ever have of being remembered beyond your children’s life span is that which you contribute as a Human Being to others.  The only ones that are remembered positively decades later are those that contributed to society, to others, to the evolution of humankind in some form or another.

 

The land you think you own or are going to own will never be yours.  It belongs to Mother Earth and she can take it all away from you in a snap.  This is the illusion and when you understand it, you are free to contribute in a bigger more important way.
